Project Officer at the German Embassy Freetown

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Freetown is looking for an employee (m/f/div.) in the areas of
Press, cultural and public relations, development cooperation, accounting, secretariat, protocol
for an initial period of two years with the option of extension.
The main areas of activity (tasks) are as follows:
- Managing the Embassy's projects in the areas of development cooperation, human rights, culture and public relations
- Maintaining the website, social media and the contact networks of the embassy
- Event and invitation management, including programme development and media design
- Accounting, including payroll and account management
- Ambassador's secretariat, appointment coordination, protocol issues
- Contacts with authorities and institutions in Sierra Leone
- Accounting and administrative, mainly IT-supported project management
Willingness to cooperate in other areas and the fulfilment of ad hoc assigned tasks is required.
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- a bachelor degree or equivalent in one of the fields mentioned above, a medium-level or higher school diploma (Abitur, Senior Secondary) with a relevant, lasting and documented working experience might be recognised
- several years of professional experience in the field of accounting and in at least one of the other areas mentioned above (tasks)
- good knowledge for the operation of necessary IT applications such as Word and Excel
- Willingness to intensively familiarise yourself with complex and own IT-supported administrative procedures as well as continuous training
- knowledge of English and German (written and spoken) at least at level C1 and C2 (for each of the languages); Willingness to improve quickly in the other language
- Ability to work independently in a small team
In addition, desirable qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in the above-mentioned areas (tasks)
- Knowledge of local political and cultural conditions
- Skills in local languages, in particular in Krio
- Experience with IT applications

The contractual conditions are governed by local law, the remuneration is based on the salary schedule of the embassy for employees under Sierra Leonean law.
